Xioniximo Fundraising Events 09

Over the summer the Xioniximo pack attended two events with the hope of raising a little money to help SHCGB welfare. The first event was Southport’s Town and Country Fair on the August bank holiday weekend. This was the first year that the town and country fair had been held at Stanley Park and hosted a range of attractions from a fun dog show, have a go agility and obedience, sheep and duck herding, ferret racing to horseback gymnastics!

The  huskies had an outing in the show ring, loved the agility and had a little run around the ring with the rig to demonstrate how we work huskies in this country, as well as greeting all the visitors like only a husky can.

Those people that did brave the wind and rain to come along were very generous in donating to the SHCGB welfare fund and we hope they enjoyed meeting the dogs and learning a little more about huskies and welfare. We had a great time, met many interesting people and heard some wonderful stories. My favourite from a man who told me how his father had been shipwrecked in the war with a husky and had brought her home with him.

While we were in Southport we were approached and asked if we could go along to Birkenhead transport festival in a few weeks time, of course we agreed.  The Transport Festival was organised by the British Heart Foundation and for that weekend Birkenhead Park was filled with more steam powered machines and vehicles of all shapes and sizes than you can imagine.  There were boats on the lake, a steam powered car, motorbikes, a steam powered carousel, vintage buses and cars, military vehicles…and a pack of  Siberian Huskies! It was a very busy weekend. We were inundated with people asking for information on how they could help welfare, how they could foster or adopt and simply wanting to learn a little more about the breed.  We returned home exhausted but very proud of all the dogs.

The grand total raised was £271.83 which we hope will go a little way  to help those working relentlessly for the welfare dogs.
